About Us
Owners, Lee & Michelle Holland started Smoked From Above BBQ & Ribs as a hobby a few years back smoking different meats in the back yard. This lead to weekend trips to BBQ competitions and with all the practice for competition they had lots of meat to serve family & friends. From there they were asked to cater a 300 person party. By word of mouth our reputation for great BBQ travelled quickly and in no time we were having lots of offers to cater events. These made Lee have to choose between his current job and the catering. So in May of 2005 we opened our first restaurant. After 3 ½ years we moved to our current location at Landstown Commons Shopping Center in Virginia Beach in August of 2008.
Our restaurant is a 40 seater quick serve restaurant with a family atmosphere. They are smoke & Alcohol free (but we do have take-out for those who would like to pop a cold one with their BBQ). All meats are smoked on site as well as all the rubs and sauces being of our own creations. They have award winning BBQ & Ribs and they also offer several delicious home-made sides.
Our future is bright as we continue to serve the Hampton Roads area as well as continuing to compete in local and out of state BBQ competitions. In these short few years we have managed to have won awards for our BBQ with our proudest one to date was being voted #1 in Baby Back Ribs in our local newspaper taste test.
